About the Informal Assessment Training Program
Teachers, physicians and psychologists enrolling in this four-day workshop learn some basic tools to informally assess children experiencing learning difficulties so the children can be referred for formal testing and assessment by trained psychologists.

Case studies are presented. The instructor demonstrates informal testing and assessment tools to identify areas of difficulty for an individual child.

Objective
To train individuals who are responsible for children to identify those with LDs so they can be referred for testing and formal assessment.

About the Teacher Training Program
Teachers who enrol in this six-day workshop learn strategies and skills to address the special learning needs of children with learning differences (LDs). All training is conducted by experienced BOLD Program LD Resource Teachers and guest speakers.

Our Resource Teachers provide ongoing supervision to recent trainees at schools that are collaborating with our Teacher Training Program. The Resource Teachers function as consultants to support educators, assist them to track the child's progress, and help them to implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) as necessary.

Objective
To train teachers to identify children with LDs and to modify classroom teaching so children with LDs can learn.

The Program
Teachers learn through lectures, case presentations, group discussions and role play. Presentation of material about theory is followed by workshops on practice that involve teacher participation.

    Practice:
    Case studies are presented. The instructor demonstrates testing and assessment to identify areas of difficulty for an individual child. She explains how test results are used to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that build on the child's identified strengths, and introduces specific tools and strategies the educator may use to assist the child.

Resource Teachers educate parents about their child’s learning difficulties, and help them to support their child and teach him/her the strategies and skills s/he needs to succeed in school.

About the Parent Education Program
Parents who enrol in this four-day workshop learn strategies and skills to support the special learning needs of their children who have been identified (through testing and a formal assessment at the Therapy Centre) as having learning differences (LDs). Experienced BOLD Program LD Resource Supervisors and Teachers work with parents.

Objective
To help parents understand their children’s learning difficulties and teach them skills and strategies to support their children’s learning needs in the classroom and at home.

Parents learn through lectures, case presentations, group discussions and role play. Presentation of material about theory is followed by workshops on practice that involve parent participation.
